The Autumn and Winter Lake District Film and Photography competition came to a close on the 28th February 2011. The competition received over 500 high quality and unique video and photo entries. They were submitted by contributors of varied abilities, making it such a difficult task for Simon Berry, the Chairman and Managing Director of English Lakes to judge. We were looking for films and photography that best portrayed aspects of the Lake District, with this competition focusing on autumn and winter.
The winning film was submitted by Andrew Mason. It is a short video showing a family holiday at Rawfell in the Langdale valley. The video is cleverly edited together similar to a film trailer and really caught the judge's eye.
The winning photo was submitted by Graeme Nicholson. It features a sheep standing by a tree looking out at the surrounding Lake District scenery. Simon Berry commented “with so many great pictures to choose from this was a really hard decision; however I just loved this shot. The sheep is almost saying: I live in the most glorious corner of England, why not come and visit me?”
Both winners of the Autumn and Winter Film and Photography competition have won a two night break at their choice of English Lakes luxury property, inclusive of dinner on the first night.
Simon Berry says: “When we created this competition we wanted to create a site that would help show off some of the fantastic views and attractions around the Lake District. Many people already make short films and take photos of their visit to the Lakes and this site serves as a showcase to show what they’ve been doing, as well as giving potential visitors the chance to see what’s on offer.” All entries submitted will be showcased on our site for all to see.
As a result of the success of our previous competitions, once again we will be inviting photography entries for a Spring and Summer 2011 competition. Further details on the new competition will be published shortly.
